Jacqueline Suskin

Jacqueline Suskin is a Los Angeles-based performance poet and educator who has been teaching workshops, writing books, and creating spontaneous poetry at events around the world since 2009.

She is the author of three books: The Collected (Publication Studio, 2010), Go Ahead & Like It (Ten Speed Press, 2014) and The Edge of The Continent Volume One (Rare Bird, 2018). Jacqueline was honored by Michelle Obama at the White House for her work as a Turnaround Artist, and has been featured in New York Times, T Magazine, Los Angeles Times, The Atlantic, Man Repeller, Reader’s Digest, Better Homes & Gardens, Huffington Post and various other publications. Known for her multidisciplinary project Poem Store, Jacqueline composes improvisational poetry for patrons on her manual typewriter. A guest sits down with Jacqueline and names a subject that they would like their poem to be about, and in less than two minutes she types up a unique verse and reads it aloud. The exchange is therapeutic in nature, guiding guests through an experience of being seen and understood, as they witness the translation of their feelings and concerns through the lens of poetry. Poem Store has been Jacqueline’s main occupation since 2009 and has taken her around the world. She has written for Oprah, Maria Shriver, Drew Barrymore, Cheryl Strayed, and Gwyneth Paltrow, and has collaborated with Nike, Paypal, Gartner Inc, Alice + Olivia, Nasty Gal, and The Standard, finding endless ways to bring poetry into the mainstream.
