Carla Canales, Founder/Director of The Canales Project, is pleased to announce the launch of TCP's newest initiative, Hear Her Song. Created to celebrate stories of remarkable women leaders, the initiative brings together an extraordinary array of musical artists, offering powerful insights into women's leadership worldwide.

Through collaboration with partner organizations Vital Voices and Women Like Us Foundation, Hear Her Song will honor 20 distinguished women for their achievements and courageous life choices, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former First Lady Michelle Obama, Chief Theresa Kachindamoto, Sister Marilyn Lacey, and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

Each of the honorees' insights and stories form the foundation for the creation of the new songs, featuring lyrics by TCP's Poet-in-Residence,Jacqueline Suskin and music by an all-female cast of today's leading composers and songwriters. The project is led by Kurt Crowley, also current music director of Broadway's Hamilton, and participating composers includeSarah Elizabeth Charles, Emily Estefan, Emily Hall, Molly Joyce, Tania León, and Georgia Stitt.

Hear Her Song will premiere in full at Washington, D.C.'s National Gallery of Art in March 18, 2018, and will be performed at the Hammer Theatre Center in San José, California on May 19, 2018 through a partnership with the City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs and San José State University.
