Kevin Hu

Kevin Hu is an internationally acclaimed and award­-winning violinist and polymath. Born in 1993, Kevin became concertmaster of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra at age 15, won the Schmidbauer International Young Artists competition at age 16, and became a YoungArts Finalist and U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts at age 17. He qualified for the USA Mathematics Olympiad in middle school, and while in high school, became a semifinalist for the USA Physics Team, and participated in the USA Mathematics Olympiad Summer Program and the Research Science Institute at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Kevin graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in applied mathematics from Harvard University in 2015, where he was the President of the Harvard Applied Mathematics Society. While in college, he performed across the U.S. and Europe, and performed for international dignitaries including U.S. President Barack Obama, kicking off the 69th annual U.N. General Assembly meeting. Currently, Kevin works at Operator, a tech startup in San Francisco, where he tells stories through numbers and writes music for marketing content. Kevin volunteers on the shelter medicine team at the San Francisco Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and enjoys running, hiking, photography, and traveling.
