March Newsletter
Dear Friends,
WOW March was such an eventful month, and we are so grateful to share all of the exciting moments with you.
TCP Statement of Solidarity and Support for our AAPI Community
First and foremost, we want to create space for the AAPI Community during this difficult time of racial injustice. We are shocked and saddened at the senseless acts of violence and racism inflicted on our Asian American and Pacific Islander Community. We want to express our solidarity with all of our Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander community members, along with all people of color in this country. In this time of increasing multiculturalism throughout the world, it is crucial to understand, empathize and celebrate the diverse cultural identities among our communities. It is what makes our global communities unique and beautiful, and it is our duty to combat all forms of discrimination by transforming advocacy into action. Here at TCP, we remain committed to addressing these issues of culture and identity through the humanizing power of music and language. We thank all of our AAPI composers, partners and community members for all your contributions, and encourage all to stand in solidarity by rededicating ourselves to inclusivity and equity with the resources provided below. Wishing you all safety, healing, and empathy. #stopasianhate
HEAR HER SONG ALBUM RELEASE
The inaugural Hear Her Song album debut is NOW AVAILABLE! You can listen to the album on your preferred streaming platform here.
VIRTUAL LAUNCH PARTY
On March 26th, we kicked off this inaugural release with a virtual party featuring UK-based musical activist Gwyneth Herbert, CEO of Vital Voices Global Partnership Alyse Nelson and 2021 Grammy Award Winner Elizabeth Stanley, along with uplifting statements from our artists and of course, audience members from all over the world! We were also pleased to feature an educational video made in partnership with members of the 2021 cohort of The Global Leaders Program, an executive graduate program empowering cultural changemakers to grow organizations that impact communities. Members included Mariana Atamas, Baltazar Diaz Davila, Rose Kim and Gustavo Samudio.
It was SUCH a gift to be able to gather together as a community sharing stories, songs and memories in collective advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality. Although we were virtual, smiles were shared, tears were shed, and zooms unmuted for virtual claps! If you missed the event, you can catch some of the highlights here:
#HearHerSong Campaign
Although Women’s History month is coming to a close, we remain committed to further challenge the progress for gender equality by uplifting the women whose voices are still unheard. Therefore, we are campaigning for future rounds of Hear Her Song dedicated to composers and honorees who are still underrepresented in this fight for gender equality. Learn more here.
We invite you to take action and join us in our efforts in 3 ways!
